Consulting

TFG provides consulting services to non-profits, governments, donor agencies and private companies. TFG does strategic research and analysis on tropical forest policy, scientific methodologies, sustainable finance, and project development and evaluation. Recent clients include the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke University, The CarbonNeutral Company, WWF US, and The Africa Carbon Livelihoods Trust. TFG also partners with academic institutions to perform ecosystem carbon modeling, measurements, analysis, statistics and accounting, including:

  • Moderate-resolution forest change detection from 1990 to 2000 and 2005.
  • Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (Tier 1) estimates of tropical forest carbon stocks. We use ENVISAT Meris data from 2005 with a 300m resolution and other global carbon models.
  • Measurable, reportable and verifiable (MRV) field-based vegetation carbon studies.
  • Carbon and nitrogen content of trees, vegetation and soils. TFG is partnering with Dr. Elsa Cleland’s Plant and Ecosystem Ecology lab at UCSD to provide state-of-the-art lab facilities, analysis and statistical support.
  • Computerized forest videography and interpretation.
